BATTERIES Household

Australians use 8 tonnes of batteries a year. Only 6 % are recycled, the rest go to landfill, leach toxins into the environment or just sit corroding away in peoples draws. Warning !! batteries are toxic and hazardous as they can spark and cause a fire. REDUCE 

Choose Items( toys, tools etc) that don't use batteries or choose items with solar recharge.

REUSE 

Get a battery charger. Rechargeable batteries have improved enormously and can be recharged 1000 times, that's a HUGE saving for the environment and for you.  Yes you can recycle rechargeable batteries too.
