Plastic Bags - soft plastic

Sadly the REDCYCLE   PROGRAM has STOPPED. Plastic bags now need to go in the garbageReview our reduce reuse tips below to help you reduce your plastic waste. By reducing and reusing we can still  save energy, reduce environmental impact, save resources and reduce landfill. The use of reuseable bags at supermarkets has been a great step  to  stemming the flow  of plastic entering our homes, and the environment .  But there is still an enormous amount of packaging out there.  Plastic does not biodegrade it just breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces and gets into the marine food chain and our food .

REDUCE  REUSE

Start by refusing  plastic bags at the checkout in all shops.

Use reuseable Shopping bags

Use reuseable Produce Bags

Use  reuseable Bread bags. Bakeries in the hills are happy for you to bring your own bread bag or teatowel

Buy pantry  items  at Bulk food stores you can even avoid plastic bags at the butcher if you take your own container

choose paper or cardboard packaging over plastic.
