POLYSTYRENE
We all end up with some polystyrene packaging when buying appliances, this cannot be recycled in the Kerbside bin and often ends up in Landfill. Clean Expanded Polystyrene is 100% recyclable and can be recycled repeatedly. Hills recycling will accept 100% clean block polystyrene packaging (tape and cardboard removed) and take it to a recycler or transfer station. ( reasonable amounts from householders) Unfortunately we cannot take trays, peanut shaped buds or cups or provide regular service for businesses ( see business recycling).
REDUCE
The only way to avoid polystyrene is to buy second hand. It is heartening to see more manufacturers using molded cardboard instead of polystyrene.
REUSE
If you have the polystrene buds, peanuts , try advertising them on buy swap sell as people with small businesses are sometimes happy to use secondhand packing material. Other wise landfill. If you have a business, consider using cornstarch buds as these break down in water.
RECYCLE
100 % clean, tape and stickers removed
